5G, What is it and do you need it?

Modern mobile devices require a reliable connection to an internet connection. What makes this connection with the phone's performance is related to the speeds available. The newest portable devices are made to be compatible with 5G internet speeds, making the entry for these faster speeds a whole lot more accessible. 5G is currently more than twice as fast as 4G devices, allowing for faster upload and download speeds for streaming and wireless calling.

Why should you care about speed?

When 3G was still carried by big mobile providers it had a common tendency to disconnect or fail. With 4G technology the speeds improved by more than 25% and had a smaller likelihood of connection failure. However with the introduction of 5G, the is little to no latency in any internet use.

The speeds provided by 5G allow the user to have a much smoother experience when streaming or using any data to surf the web. The convenience and efficiency make switching over worthwhile.

For home internet, when this becomes standard it will allow for more users in the household to be connected at the same time and almost never experience lag.

With rapid streaming speeds, 5G allows users to effortlessly use the highest quality settings for a streaming service to watch their favorite programs. There is a benefit to all users of the internet to consider investing in.

But all the new devices that use 5G are expensive, Do I really need to switch now?

Not at all, current phones are just as fast for the applications we currently use. There are plenty of budget friendly options still available. While the most popular phones that are being released are being integrated with 5G, you do not need to immediately go out and upgrade. 4G is still being used and will not be phased out as long as the majority market still uses them. You can keep your current phone running on the current data plan you are on, no reason to spend extra on a product you do not immediately need.
