Let's Talk Bluetooth Tracking Devices

Have you ever been in a hurry but couldn't find your house / car keys? Has there ever been a time where you could not find the things you need? Maybe you'd want to invest in a Bluetooth tracking device.

What are bluetooth trackers?

These devices are directly connected with digital software that allows the user to find through GPS mapping or geolocation. These small devices use a low battery energy to transmit a bluetooth connection to your smartphone or dedicated app.

These small devices are an amazing way of quickly finding misplaced items you use often. Of course, each has their pros and cons, however you may find one that suits your needs best. In a perfect world one would like to never have to use these things. But these utilities are worth the investment, there will be plenty of times where you'll be glad about having them.

Which one should you buy?

This question depends on your needs and what type of accessibility you prefer. Are you looking to download an app for your device? Are you more aligned with Apple's Ecosystem? Do you prefer using Samsung's Galaxy devices?

Tile is a brand that isn't new to the tracking device game. Since 2012, this company has made a variety of tracking products for the average consumer. Tile's trackers are connected with their mobile app that allows the user to see the trackers most recent location. The tracker has a relatively loud ring when you use the locate button on the app. This device is simple to set up and has a variety of features the others do not include.

Biggest issue with this tracker however is the life span. This device has a limited lifespan of three years. This specific tile is not rechargeable, nor does this include a replaceable battery. The other downside to Tile's new products is a yearly subscription for additional safety features.

Pros for Tile
  • Wide Variety of tracking devices for all different lost scenarios
  • Various color options
  • Most affordable option
  •  Works with a variety of platforms (iOS & Android)
  • Includes "Tile network" to help find other user's lost Tile's using the app
  • Features innovative software that connects with Amazon Alexa devices and Google Home
  • Also includes a reverse find feature to locate your mobile device by clicking your Tile tracker
Cons for Tile
  • Non-Rechargeable battery (Usable after three years)
  • Limited range
  • Subscription service for features that are free with other devices
  • Additional app to download for this product

Within the Apple ecosystem, users will experience a much more convenient experience. The Apple AirTag is user friendly and is quite the competitor in this battle of tracking devices. Apple's biggest feature for the AirTag is their precision finding feature.

The AirTag integrates with the user's "Find My" application by creating a specific name for the item it is used with. This feature is only available if near one of your AirTags.
The location services are also a considerable plus allowing users to be able to scan another AirTag using NFC to locate lost items.

The Apple AirTag has the most variety when it comes to personalization. The AirTag can be engraved if ordered directly from Apple's website, or the user can purchase an AirTag holder for relatively cheap online.
