Why are headphones so popular again in 2023? And which ones should you buy?

Unless you've been living under a rock, Headphones are in and better than ever, (But also REALLY expensive).

However be careful! Don't fall in love at the first sight of a pair of pretty headphones, you may faint at the first glance at the price tag.

SO WHY ARE HEADPHONES BACK IN YET AGAIN?

When it comes to what's hot these days, it's always between what is the new fad or what old trend is back in a new way. In this case, it's a bit of both...sort of.

Of course, people have continued to wear headphones, nothing beats the privacy of being in a quiet space while having your own mini concert.

Headphones have continued to evolve as our personal technology has improved. We have gone away from using a Sony Walkman to listen to music. Our current streaming platforms have made it flawlessly easy to listen to our music collections. As these platforms have changed the headphones have as well, going from wired to wireless as the current preferred option.

A couple years ago Beats By Dre were the hot commodity, as these were bass heavy and stylish headphones. The marketing behind Beats was creating a sense of fomo and having popular celebrity endorsements for the products. However, people found the price to be a bit unreasonable for these headphones. The price range for these headphones ranged from $200 - $350 for a pair.

So now what's new?
What seems to be creating a big rave on TikTok over yet another glorified mini speaker sitting on your head?

These are the trendy headphones you may or may not have seen on social media.
The top image is the Sony WH1000XM5 over ear headphones. Sony's newest line of wireless headphones that are all the rage on social media. Their design is sleek and the color options are toned down and neutral. I love the build quality and the coating over the plastic they used. Their sound is absolutely phenomenal with some of the best noise cancelling I have ever experienced.

The current competitor with Sony's XM5's. These are the Apple Airpod Max. These headphones are the most advanced, sleek, comfortable headphones that Apple has ever produced. When it comes to sound quality Apple did not skim with these. The headphones are enhanced to work with the Apple ecosystem of products, giving the advanced features a plus.

If you ever get the chance, I would highly recommend going to your nearest BestBuy and trying both these headphones. You will see the difference in quality and overall sound.

Both the Sony XM5's and the Airpod Max are at the top of the line in the casual headphone user space. However, there is one issue with both of these products.

These headphones are PRETTY PRICEY

So instead of forking over nearly half a grand for these headphones let me give you two alternatives instead!

$249.99

Bose has some of the most comfortable headphones with some amazing noise cancelling. The QuietComfort 45's are the most current headphones from their premium line. The QuietComfort 45's feature a long twenty two hour battery life, and a headphone jack incase you don't have a charger around. The noise cancelling is top notch but also includes their featured "aware mode" to hear your surroundings without having to take off your headphones.
These headphones are currently on sale for $279 on their website, these are a banger deal for a pair of headphones from Bose.

Still want a pair of good Sony headphones? I've personally tried these headphones, if you are not a picky person you'll love these. If you're not someone who needs an expensive headphones case or a vast array of neutral toned colors these are IT!
These headphones do a amazing job for all day wear and include very similar noise canceling like the XM line. If you need a pair of headphones for online meetings and conferences, these include a wind reduction structure that make your voice crisp and clear.
Overall, super comfortable headphones for a fraction of the price of the super premium XM line.

Overall, if you are on a budget there is no reason to have to finance an expensive pair of headphones. If you're someone like me, you could absolutely get away with a solid pair of headphones such as these.
